AOS Blogaversary-Riddle Contest! [CLOSED]

It's already our second blogaversary here at Adventures of the Spiral, and we're celebrating with contests! Last year, we held a Battle Royale contest that was a ton of fun, but we're looking to change it up a bit this year - so this contest will be a series of riddles!

On a daily basis, we will be updating the site with new riddles. If you think you know the answer, send it to us via email - only one entry per person each day, so make sure you know the answer before submitting it! The sooner you send in your answer each day, the greater advantage you'll have when it's time to award prizes.

How It Works

At 4 pm EDT each day, starting thursday, March 26th, a new riddle will be uploaded. Be sure to check back daily to see each one!

Send the answer to the riddle to us at our email, admin@adventuresofthespiral.com with the subject "Riddle Contest"

If you answer correctly, you'll be awarded with one point.

Regardless of if you have the correct answer or not, you can still submit another answer for the next day's riddle!

At the end of the contest, those who have the most total points will win some awesome prizes!

Rules

1. Although not required, we recommend having completed the main storyline in order to have the best chance of winning - the riddles will be based off of the Pirate101 story!

2. Each riddle will close when the next one is released - this means that you have 24 hours to answer each one. After that time, we will reveal the answer, as it may be needed to answer following riddles.

3. We will determine the winners based on who has the most points at the end of all the riddles - if there is a tie, whoever submitted the most correct answers first will get the better prize.

4. Though there is not an official rule against it, working with others is not suggested, as it will lower your own chance of winning. Remember that each person must submit their own entry to receive a prize!
5. As with all of our contests, this contest will adhere to our Contest Policy.

AOS Blogaversary-Scrapbook Contest! [CLOSED]

It’s our second Blogaversary, and it’s been a wild ride with many memories! In celebration of this great event, we want to have you guys make some memories too...by making a scrapbook!

Every day at 4pm Eastern time, we will be editing this post to give you clever wizards 1 clue (total 10) which will lead you to 10 different locations found throughout the spiral.  Finding all of the locations and submitting them correctly will reap fantastic rewards!

What you have to do

Each clue will be in the form of a riddle. Your job is to solve the riddle, travel to the location it refers to in game, and take a screenshot. To be valid, screenshots must have the menu chat phrase “Let’s go,”  (Activities→ Let's go... → Let's go) somewhere in the picture. Entries will be invalid if this phrase is not included.

Note: You will NOT need to fight any creatures to get to any of these locations.

Rules

1. Winners will be determined based on the time we receive your email with ALL correct screenshots.

2. A level requirement is not necessarily required, but it would be handy to have had finished the game, as we will be using the whole spiral for this contest.

3. You may work with others, but each person must enter this contest separately.

How to enter

1. Take a screenshot of 10 different locations that refer to each of the 10 different clues.

2. The menu chat phrase “Let’s go” must be in each screenshot.

3. Your wizard name must be in each screenshot. (Options → Adjust Gameplay Options → Overhead Names)

4. Submit your entry with all of your pictures via email to admin@adventuresofthespiral.com with the subject “AOS Scrapbook Contest.”

Answer Explanations
1. The doodlefish and dooflefishette can be found in the water next to the main tree in the tree of life. 
2. Many people want Magma Peas=Envy. Grow=seeds grow. 
3. The fountain is always there, but the people who come visit it change depending on the time of year. 
4. The mystery of the death school was introduced in the very beginning of the game. The gap is big, so you might fall. 
5. Commons is a bright and cheerful place. The passageway through the waterfall leads to Nightside, a very dark place. You are able to train spells at the death school="New knowledge is sure to spark."
6. The raptor always looks like he's thinking. "Viral" was a hint to memes, which is what the raptor reminds many people of. 
7. A giant bug statue greets you in the Shadow Palace. The end of the game is very close to here.
8. Notorious Ghoul=Undead Mali. Outside the sigils is known to have lots of mana wisps.
9. Cheats can often be dispelled by dispels. The ZF vendor is the only vendor who sells all of the dispels.
10. Grandmother Raven is our narrator and helps us through every journey.

Pirate101 Battle Royale Contest! [CONTEST CLOSED]

Ahoy! To celebrate our first Blogaversary we're holding a very special Pirate101 Battle Royale and we want to CELEBRATE, in style

On March 15th at 4pm EST/ 3pm CST/ 2pm MST/ 1pm PST/ 9pm GMT, we will be editing this post (as well as announcing on Twitter and Facebook) with some interesting challenges for you guys to solve. If you complete them correctly, you’ll have a chance at some great prizes!

What is a Battle Royale?

At the time listed above, we’ll be posting four pictures hinting to a certain location on this post. Your job is to find out what location we are hinting to and travel there to it - you should find an AoS staff member or a contest helper hiding there. Please note that, if the hint location picture is of a boss, you do not need to defeat that boss. The pictures will only be a hint towards a location, not a certain fight.

Once you find one of our pirates, we will give you a hint towards a boss that you need to defeat. Simply sail to that location, defeat that boss, and take a picture of the room where the boss was in after the fight is over. In the picture, please say the menu chat phrase “Let’s go defeat a Boss.” You can find this in Activities → Let’s Go → Defeat a Boss. Entries will be invalid if this phrase is not included.

It is up to you how you would like to approach this. You can find each individual pirate first and then go to all of the locations, find a pirate and then the hinted location, etc. Remember that you do not have to take a picture of our pirates, just the room the boss was in after the fight with them.

Rules:

1. Prizes are first come, first serve. For example, If you submit the first winning email you will get first grabs at the bundles, second correct entry gives you the choice between the two remaining bundles, third correct entry gets you the remaining bundle and so on and so forth.
2. A level requirement is not necessarily required, but it would be handy to have had finished the game, as we will be using the whole spiral for this contest.
3. If you are soloing, you must at least be able to use Text Chat.
4. If you would like to work in teams, that is allowed, but no more than two people per team. This is to ensure that the prizes get distributed equally and fairly. Additionally, each member of the team must enter this contest separately.

How to enter:

To enter this contest correctly, please read the following terms carefully:

1. The Picture submitted must be after the boss fight.

2. The picture must show you using the Menu Chat phrase “Let’s go defeat a Boss.”

3. Your name must be visible in the Picture. (Options → Adjust Gameplay Options → Overhead Names)

4. Email all your entry consisting all of the pictures to admin@adventuresofthespiral.com with the subject title reading “Battle Royale Contest”.

Blogaversary Farming Events

This month is shaping up to be great, especially with that mystery contest we have planned for March 15th... what exactly will it be? More information will be revealed very soon!

To start our blogaversary month off, we'll be hosting a farming event on Saturday, March 8th at Friar Sand. Note that you do not have to have be able to access this area yourself, though it would be more helpful if you did. The more pirates in the fight, the higher the gold reward will be for everyone - lower level pirates are more than welcome to attend!

At 4:00 EST, we will meet in Avery's Court, realm One-Eyed Jack. Please add a pirate named Quick Lucas Newell, who will teleport everyone to entrance to Friar Sand's instance. Pickups will last approximately 10-15 minutes, so make sure you are there on time!

If you are a lower level and cannot enter the area by yourself, please find a higher level pirate who will be willing to take you inside. Remember, the more pirates the group the better... more gold to plunder!

On March 22nd, we'll be switching it up and hosting a Nautical Farming Event at Captain Pluton. Whether you're just looking for rare ship parts or if you need to raise your nautical level, be sure to come so that you're all ready for broadside ship combat for when the next major update is released! This event will also be held at 4:00 EST. Meet us in Avery's Court, realm One-Eyed Jack for pickups... and, of course, this event is open to all levels!

We'll also be closing off the month with a second Friar Sand farming event on March 29th at 4:00 EST, where we will be meeting in the same place and realm. So feel free to spend all the gold you receive from the event, because you'll be able to win plenty more shortly after!

Also, we have some extra codes for rare items that you may be interested in... we'll be giving a couple out at each farming event, so be sure to attend!

Blogaversary Month!

Some of you may know, that last March is when we started what was back then, "Adventures of the Wizard" over on wordpress. We’ve come a long way since then; we changed the blog name to “Adventures of the Spiral”, released the Companion Database back in September, and not so long ago, we were delightfully accepted as an Official Fansite for Pirate101!

However, we would not be where we are right now if it wasn’t for you guys, our readers. So, to celebrate, we would like to dedicate this month to you! 

Throughout this month we will be having Farming Events and a contest, which we believe, you will all be very excited for, but the details will not be shared with you yet!  

Here’s a schedule of events, more news and info will be coming during the first week of March regarding the Farming Events. The nature of the Mystery Contest will be revealed before March 15th, so do keep an eye out for that!
